Their mission is to provide each cadet with an academic, character, leadership and physical education of excellence, which ensures his/her development and readiness for college, leadership, and citizenship. Their mission is implemented with discipline, fostered with structure and a firm, fair, consistent and supportive environment. Their mission is established on the founding motto of the Academy, "Non Nobis Solum" ("Not for ourselves alone"), and based on the principles of Courage, Purity, and Industry.
From the classroom and dorms to the playing fields, cadets learn the importance of having a strong character based on time honored values and cadets progressively learn and practice leadership skills and techniques. The military structure provides every cadet the opportunity to improve organizational skills, goal setting, and self-esteem. Developing good character is an important aspect of every young person’s education. The 24-hour educational format at MMA provides the opportunity for cadets to focus on these.
MMA is committed to developing young men and women who accept responsibility for their behavior. By providing a firm, fair and consistent environment for all cadets, the Academy encourages high standards of behavior. The Cadet Honor Code provides the foundation – “A cadet will not lie, cheat or steal nor tolerate those who do.” Cadets have numerous opportunities to grow and develop leadership skills. Cadets who have earned rank by demonstrated leadership potential, academic success, and extracurricular participation lead the Corps of Cadets.
